Open Government Information Awareness (Open GIA)
Computing Culture group

Researchers: Prof. Chris Csikszentmihályi and Ryan McKinley
Project Web site:   http://opengov1.media.mit.edu/

Open GIA highlights the discrepancy between the government's ability to monitor an individual's acitivities and an individual's ability to monitor the government.

In addition to building a database on governmental activities, users can explore data, track events, find patterns, and build risk profiles on political figures and issues, all in an effort to encourage and motivate civic action.

Open GIA features live video feeds from C-SPAN 1 and 2 and can alert users when political figures of interest are speaking. It also can track politicians and activity by region, and provides links to federal agencies and other organizations.
